How difficult is the hike?

The hike to the waterfall is a moderate slope which should present little issues to those who have a medium fitness level.

Do I require hiking boots?

While not a requirement, we recommend sturdy footwear for the hike to the waterfall.

What amenities are provided?

Guest bathrooms are located at the Materuni Tourism Centre, the farmhouse and enroute to the waterfall. Guests are advised that there are no cash machines available in the village and therefore you should bring adequate funds with you (including smaller denominations for tips and purchases).

Can I buy coffee?

Yes, coffee beans that have been grown, harvested and roasted on the farm are available for purchase. These beans are housed in an attractive fabric bag handmade by the family and make fantastic gifts.

What is the altitude?

The Materuni Village is approximately 1532m above sea level.

Will I see Mount Kilimanjaro?

On a clear day, the mountain is clearly visible during your hike. However, she is a shy beauty and may not show her face during your visit to the area.

Will I see any wildlife?

As you are hiking through farmland it is unlikely that you will see alot of wildlife, however chameleons are common throughout the area so keep your eyes peeled. You may also see birds, blue monkeys and ground squirrels. 

How far is the village from Moshi?

The village is approximately 15km from Moshi town and takes around 45-60 minutes by car.
